Message from Komotini’s Mayor
Komotini Municipality is characterized of multiculturalism and mainly of the creative conjunction of its citizens. It forms a colorful mosaic of harmonically living together.
In parallel, the strategic-geopolitical position of Komotini emerges as a privilege in policy making of the Balkan's interior area.
Local Administration, as a political institution and as the basis of the citizen in the political procedure participation, has to secure today's and primarily tomorrow's progress and prosperity of the citizens.
For all these reasons, the Municipality of Komotini, as a leader of the project, with the participation of Municipalities from Turkey, Bulgaria, Czech Republic and Algeria is fully committed to the med-access project which is the means of enhancing the local social policy and bonding European countries and MEDA countries by working for the same cause.
This project is a challenge which will be successfully completed with the constructive cooperation of all participating partners.
Dimitrios Kotsakis
Komotini’s Mayor

Support to Disadvantaged People and Minorities through Municipal Social and Economic Integration
The project will be implemented with a global aim at strengthening Local Governance in the partner municipalities in order to facilitate opportunities for disadvantaged peoples’ social economic and political participation in Municipal affairs. It should be noted that one of the main issues to be addressed is the creation of an environment that will support synergies among other projects and municipal actions to assure sustainability and will encourage the exchange between existing European and Mediterranean support Networks. Moreover, the integration of the disadvantaged groups will lead to long term local sustainable development.
